into the office from the front doors and signed in by a parent/guardian.

2:00pm Dismissal Changes – for the safety of our students, we will not make changes in dismissal after 2:00 pm (per CISD handbook). If you need to pick your child up early, you must arrive before 2:30 or your child will have to go home following his/her normal routine.

Specifics for Arrival and Dismissal (PLEASE READ!):

Arrival:  Students can begin arriving at 7:15am with the tardy bell ringing at 7:50 am. Upon arrival, students will either go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to their grade level locations to wait for their teachers, if not eating breakfast.  Teachers and other support staff will be on duty every morning to ensure the safety and security of our Wildcats. ALL Pre-Kindergarten students, whether eating breakfast or not, will go to their classrooms upon arrival.

  1. Bus:  Students will arrive and be directed to breakfast or their grade level holding areas.

  1. Car Drop-Off:  Parents will form one line with their vehicles following the directions for your child’s grade level (see map with instructions).  Students should INDEPENDENTLY exit out of the passenger side and head into the school. Parents should remain in the cars to keep the flow of the line moving.  If the car in front is taking longer and you have already dropped off, please be patient and wait for a staff member to direct you.  Students will be asked to get out as soon as the car is completely stopped.  Please make sure your child is completely dressed (including shoes) and ready to exit the car before getting into the drop-off line.

**Please DO NOT create two lanes of traffic while you are waiting for the drop-off or dismissal process to begin. This includes going around another vehicle in line.

  1. Parking Lot:  Parents cannot park in the parking lots and walk their child up to the school. We do not allow parents to walk students onto the porch at drop off or dismissal.  *Only those with handicap identification tags are allowed to utilize our handicap parking spaces.  Please be courteous to those Calallen East students that are needing to utilize this space for their disability.

  1. Walkers:  We do not allow walkers unless there is an extremely special circumstance. If a parent wishes for their child to be a walker, this must be approved by the principal.  Please contact the office to make an appointment to speak with an administrator if you are requesting this option.

** We will have MANY adults out to assist the students as we transition back into the school year.  While this may be unsettling, I promise we will work with the students and assist them if they need it until they feel comfortable.  They can do it, and so can you. I have faith!

Dismissal: School will conclude at 3:10 pm and that is when students will begin exiting the campus.  (We may start earlier the first week to practice our new dismissal routine).

  1. Bus:  Students will be loaded by staff according to their bus tags (we will hand these out the 1st week of school) and buses will depart no later than 3:10pm.

  1. Day Care (Off-Site Child Care):  If you have enrolled your student in a childcare center that provides afternoon pick-up, then their shuttle will be loaded with those students by daycare staff, and they will proceed to their location.  Calallen East does not provide information for off-site childcare centers, nor their availability.  Please contact the daycare center directly.

  1. Walkers:  We do not allow walkers unless there is an extremely special circumstance. If a parent wishes for their child to be a walker, this must be approved by the principal.  Please contact the office to make an appointment to speak with an administrator if you need this option.

  1. Car Pick-Up:  Parents will form one line with their vehicles following the directions for your child’s grade level. These directions can be found on the back of the student pick-up placard.  Family member car placards will be given out at Meet the Teacher.  If you do not have a car tag yet, please bring your valid photo ID to the front office ASAP to get your tag. This should be placed on your dashboard on the passenger side so it is visible for staff.  A staff member will be walking the line identifying (utilizing their cell phone) student names and notifying staff members to ensure your students are lined up and ready for pick up.  The student(s) from inside the building will go to the appropriate position along the pickup line outside.  Students will need to enter the car from the passenger side.  Parents should remain in the cars to keep the flow of the line moving.  Staff will not assist with the safety restraints, seatbelts or car seats.

**With the number of students on campus, please anticipate a LONG line at the beginning of the year.  Our goal is to make this quick while keeping student safety in mind. In the past, the pick-up line could take up to 45 minutes the first week of school.  Please be patient as it will get faster.  I promise!

Please remember that our #1 goal is student safety, and we feel that these procedures will protect our students while providing as much convenience to parents as possible.  Thank you to those of you that stuck with me and read all these procedures to ensure that your student as well as all of the students of Calallen East are as safe as they can be. The collaboration of school and home is crucial, and the arrival and dismissal procedures only scratch the surface of what it takes to make these amazing Wildcats successful.  I look forward to seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher on August 11th!
